Pye Corner Audio
Pye Corner Audio

Emerging into the underground electronic music scene in 2010, the sounds of Martin Jenkins' Pye Corner Audio were first heard through his self-released Black Mill Tapes. The minimal yet textural sounds of these tapes soon captured the attention of fans of similar acts such as Demdike Stare, Ekoplekz, Jon Brooks and artists on the Ghost Box label. The first two volumes of the Black Mill Tapes were reissued as a vinyl edition by respected electronic label Type in 2012.

Inspired by a myriad of influences ranging from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Harmonia, the soundtracks of John Carpenter, to the clinical electro sounds of Drexciya and classic Detroit techno, Jenkins would soon harness these influences with the release of the album, 'Sleep Games', on the Ghost Box label in 2012. A flurry of singles followed in 2013, including 'Conical Space/Dusk Veiled' on Dekorder, 'Superstitious Century' on Boomkat Editions and an entry in the Ghost Box Study Series in collaboration with the Listening Center.

He also started a new musical project, The House in the Woods, in 2013, with a more ambient and experimental sound compared to his other work; the self-titled CD was released via Exotic Pylon Records that same year. Early 2014 saw the release of Black Mill Tapes Volume 4, accompanied by a vinyl edition and 3CD compilation of all four volumes on Type Records. A split LP with Not Waving, 'Intercepts', also saw the light of day on Ecstatic.

2015 brought a set of releases including another 7” for Ghost Box’s Other Voices series, the 'Stars Shine Like Eyes' 10” on Death Waltz Originals, and the 'Prowler' LP for More Than Human out of Vancouver.

So far, 2016 has seen the release of a split EP with Dalhous, 'Run For The Shadows', on Barcelona’s Lapsus Records. Forthcoming releases include a new LP for Ghost Box, due August and a vinyl edition of the Zones cassette from 2015. Pye Corner Audio has also been building a live following over the last couple of years, reconfiguring the studio recordings and stretching them out into new directions taking in semi-ambient passages and diversions into noisier territories.
