Heidi Mortenson grew up to the sound of her father's car repaired in the garage and her mother's organ played in the living room. As a teenager she moved to Barcelona, where her interest in music began to evolve. She experimented, recorded her own voice in a washing machine, building microphones from telephones and creating music through a walkie-talkie.
From there her career took off. She was nominated for Resident Artist at LEM festival in Barcelona, played the opening concert at the Transmediale Festival in Berlin, released several works and received a wide range of positive critical notes in the meantime. Since then, Mortenson has added worldwide festivals, artist residencies and outstanding projects and collaborations to her CV.
A few years ago, she moved to a Scandinavian forest area at the sea, after living in Barcelona and Berlin for fifteen years. The idea was to immerse herself in music, make room for thoughts, and not least to create a home in the woods where she returns from adventure and metropolitan residence.
Mortenson has recently released her follow up album to the internationally acclaimed Mørk (Dark). The album is
called Tid (Time) and features ten new tracks:
All the new communication technology has in many ways contributed to the total cessation of time and place. The blur of participating in the world through technology while being present with oneself in nature reveals on this album a landscape of thoughts about social life, work flow, romance and pure existence.
