Playing a combination of soprano saxophone, turntable, laptop and surround-sound electronics, the world-class saxophonist Evan Parker in partnership with esteemed turntablist Matt Wright present Trance Map, a realtime reworking of their psi CD, which blurs the distinction between playing, mixing and editing.
Filtered through the silicon of the hard drive, samples of saxophone, lithophone and insects often sound electronically generated, whilst some of the synthesised sounds, designed in software, sound like birds with wings of their own.
